Rebranding for existing business
I'm looking for a designer to rebrand garden design business. It started as Andrews Garden Design (AGD) but as business has developed, the current branding now feels a bit “stiff” and doesn’t reflect my strengths. I also feel it’s a bit too landscaper/man-ish and so I now want to reflect more about me and how I work. AGD also doesn’t say anything about how I design or how I’m different: it now feels too generic. The rebranded business is very much telling my story about how I work/weave different plant colours, texture and forms into my garden designs. My background in upholstery/interior design has very much informed this and I’ve realised that I’ve spent so much time with a multitude of different fabric, matching colours and styles for customers, advising on shapes, shades, textures and finishes that this “weaving” is essentially what I do now! It’s intrinsic to how I design gardens, how I see plants and landscapes and how I bring it all together: this is my point of difference – it’s what I want to bring out and it differentiates me from many other garden designers. Hence, I feel that AGD is a bit of a straitjacket that doesn’t express this visually (or at all!). My gardens are also very focused on sustainability, working with environment, low maintenance, organic, no-dig and bringing this to customer. This is integral to design process and eventual garden: definitely not greenwashing On a more practical point, I’ve also run into another Andrews Garden Design and although our FB pages are slightly different, there’s a bit of confusion – so want to eliminate this. I’ve checked the new name and it’s available for website, FB and Insta – so should be OK. I will do a website, but this is phase 2 – right now I plan to use FB and Insta as my main marketing channels. As a result, the logo for AGD doesn’t feel right anymore: I’d like to rebrand to reflect the changes and its new name: PlantWeaver In terms of colours, I'm looking mulberry/purple, green, white: I like the idea of naturally looking colours – green not too dark: maybe slightly acidic to highlight mulberry. Definitely not Cadbury purple! Font – I’ve used “Bradley Hand” a couple of times, I quite like it, but it’s not quite right – maybe a bit too flowery (no pun intended) and if there’s a lot of text, it can become quite difficult to read after a while. Something along these lines would be ideal: I want a softer and more “feminine” feel than Arial or Times Roman, but not quite as relaxed as this Bradley Head. Current Design – I’m not aversed to a redevelopment/evolution of existing logo, but I'm not wedded to it either. Key issue with it - background is white, so it tends to disappear on Instragram – so it looks a bit weedy (poor explanation, but if you look, you can see what I mean) Overall Look/Feel – I’d like a design that encapsulates the above – bringing together plants, colour, texture and form – it doesn’t necessarily need to feature a plant as such (leaves or similar graphic impression is fine). I don’t want anything that looks like a traditional weaver (that’s not what I do) The business is more about the notion of weaving things together into a new whole, rather than making cloth – sorry if that’s too literal, but thought I needed to say it!
